Gardens of the Rose, Hertfordshire
Rose arch with tour members
F L O R A Garden Tours visits The Gardens of the Rose, Mottisfont Abbey, Chenies Manor and Wisley.

June is peak rose time and we tour through the counties of Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire, visiting well-known and smaller private gardens, all brimming over with roses. The tour starts and ends at a charming old house among the beautiful Chiltern Hills.

We visit The Gardens of the Rose near St. Albans, the home of the Royal National Rose Society. Here are 20 acres of landscaped gardens containing 30 000 roses in 1700 varieties growing among clematis and other herbaceous plants. In the Queen Mother Garden are the old varieties and there are also the cultivation trial beds and the themed borders. We also visit another rose garden belonging to the National Trust at Mottisfont Abbey and the Saville Gardens in Windsor Great Park. The tour also takes in Wisley, the home of the Royal Horticultural Society, Hever Castle and Penshurst Place, as well as Chenies Manor and some charming Old Rectory gardens.
